C40 - Family Grimoire is the new project of Robbie Friedlen, formerly performing ritualistic post-industrial under Hanging Lichen. The shift to Family Grimoire summons a commanding new direction, one that slightly harkens back to the old-world traditions of power electronics, but done with a signature mixture of the organic clashing with the mechanic. The madness of the seasons begins to take its toll. Nature does not allow us to ignore it, especially in the midwest. Layers of buzzing synths & icicle-trickling, the toil in the field, the constant anxiety of ensuring a proper yield to last the frigid winter. The symbiotic relationship between human and soil, and the respect that must be paid. Earthen sound-collage, melancholic, moistened, yet full of pulse & growth. - Description by Rush Falknor
